Lately I have been seeing some pretty cool chandeliers that [if I had time and were the least bit crafty] I could make myself. Since I’m probably not going to, I thought you might. If you do, send me some pics!

Here are my faves:

This Bubble Yarn Lampshade by Pickles was featured on re-nest and is actually something I might try to make. It’s kind of like doing paper-mache and kids do that, so I should be able to do this, right?

These DIY Bubble Chandeliers have been popping up everywhere. I like this gold version from Jean Pelle.

The picture above is of Pottery Barn’s Edison Chandelier and there is a similar DIY version hack on Instructables using Hemma lights from Ikea.. It doesn’t look like a beginner project, but it could save you $300.

These Paperclip [yes paperclip] Chandeliers are from Resdesign Technologies. You can purchase one custom made, get a downloadable PDF tutorial, or a semi-assembled kit.

This unique piece from Lindsey Adleman Studio is highly customizable. She also has some bubble chandelier options on her blog.

This Birdcage Chandelier [via Kitschy Galore] doesn’t come with a tutorial, but looks pretty easy to make. I’ve sent her a message to see if I can get the DIY from her and if I do, I will post it!

The detailed tutorial for this Horchow drum shade knock-off [original on the right] can be found on A Penny Saved.

I’ve always loved terrariums, but for some reason thought they were difficult to make or maintain. I was so wrong. They are so simple and soon they will be all over my house! They also make really pretty gifts – anybody want one for Christmas??!!

A terrarium is a collection of small plants growing inside of a [usually] glass container … like a mason jar, fishbowl, etc. A tiny little eco-system. So tiny you can even put one in a keychain. I found these tiny bamboo plants on ebay.

This ring by ILDVED [Danish name meaning ceremonial firewood] is made from oxidized sterling silver and a bit of copper and features a glass dome with preserved reindeer moss inside. How cool is that?! Made to order for $65.00.

A love of outdoors and living at the foot of the Appalachian Mountains were the inspiration for these moss terrarium pendants by Warm Country Meadows. Hang them around your neck, from a keychain, or just sit them somewhere in your home and admire their loveliness. The shop also has some great terrarium ornaments! Two pendants for $10.00.

These beautiful terrariums were created by Stephen Orr [What Were the Skies Like] and his friends during a weekend in the Catskills. You can read his tips on making them at Apartment Therapy.

A little bit of charcoal, some stones, potting soil, and of course a jar and plants are all you need. Check out these other tutorials for more pointers:
